    Yes I am in construction. My camper is parked where many other employees have theirs parked and I have been told by a couple of guys that they would make sure I got to work and back. I can't drive for six months.

    Can they legally send me down the road considering epilepsy is listed with the ADA as a disability?

    I'll tell you a true story. Not so much to scare you, but so you'll be warned. I worked with a woman that a seizure at work. She wasn't allowed to drive for 6 months. At around the 5-1/2 month mark, she had another seizure, and had her driving on hold for another 6 months. Then her husband went away for a week. She had her third seizure at home alone. She was on her back and choked on her vomit and died.

    So my advice to you is do NOT be alone until this condition is resolved.

    The ADA does NOT say that you cannot be released from a job that you cannot do safely.

    That doesn't sound very good. So after years of working with this company I can be let go because of something out of my control. That's hard to deal with...

    Thanks to all who have responded.

    It would be harder to deal with having a seizure and injuring or killing yourself (or someone else) because you insisted on coming back to work before your employer had arranged to work within your restrictions.

    regarding Ada accommodations;

    -
    an employer must make reasonable accommodations that would allow you to perform your job. I cannot think of any reasonable accommodations that would allow you to do your job given it is in construction.

    So after 20+ years as an Electrician it all ends like this. Heck, I wouldn't even be able to flip burgers because I might end up on a grill or in a fryer. I may have to look at getting into pillow making.

    Thank you for your responses

    You haven't been fired yet. You're on leave while your employer investigates whether there is any way they can work within your restrictions. Whole different sack of potatoes there.

    So imagine this: you have a hot I-line panel. You have the lug cover lifted because you are checking to see to see if you have 3 port or 4 port lugs (because the boss knows he ordered some 4 port lugs but cannot find them so he has you checking all possibilities including that somebody grabbed them and stuck them on this panel not realizing they were purchased for another panel) and zing!!!! Seizure time.

    You fall forward and your hand lands directly on a lug!!!!!!

    If you are extremely lucky you don't die but you have a lot of internal parts cooked and the doc tells you you have a short (and difficult) life ahead of you. If not so lucky you are dead.

    If you have any family how do you think they would feel?

    So, something so simple where you thought no chance of an injury but you're dead. No ada accommodations would have saved your ass.

    Sorry dude but I know what you face daily quite well. For your own sake you should choose not to be working around power or any height higher than your shoes will get you until you have this under control.
