Private sector colleges may prettry darn free to set their own hiring standards
The state licensing standards for things K -12 probably in state education code ..if not, in state license code ..and the stuff there is what counts....I've not dug thru your code...you go there with some help....I have other places and there are things one might consider major crimes that don't count and tiny things that do..and the details are specific to your state.
Argh! Somehow I got on Alabama not Arkansas. Too late to edit the earlier posts.
There's no such thing called "statutory rape" in Arkansas either. It's just lumped in as "sexual assault" in various degrees. Still it seems strange, as the ages still don't work as pointed out (Under 16 and over 14 requires you to be at least 20).
OP wants to teach on a collegiate level but I have news for him (albeit belated, but I assume he's peeking at the thread for updates)
I am currently working on a state university research vessel as a staff member (ships crew). The ship is for sale and I will not come into contact with students or interns on this particular job yet when hired I had to sign a paper that informed me that I am a mandated reporter. That means I am responsible for reporting any abuse I bear witness to or abuse I am told of by a student. The universities take this pretty seriously. My thoughts about you at this point lead me to believe you would not be a good fit for such an environment even IF hired. You were very quick to put the blame at the feet of the girl. That's not someone I'd like around students.
