If their policy allows for such a deduction I suspect they will require you to provide documentation. If the ltd policy is designed such that they do deduct your ssdi payments then you accepting more, knowing the rule, would be fraud.

But to your actual question; not positive but I do not believe they can release that info to your former employer.

SSA doesn't release that info. You usually sign.consent for them to get that info. If you didn't they will calculate what you should receive and deduct that amount. Carefully read over your employer or LTD paper work.

unless op worked for the current employer their entire life and that is the only employer op has had they cannot possibly calculate the op's ssdi benefit amount as it is based on the lifetime earnings of the recipient.

I can almost guarantee that when you applied for LTD you signed an authorization for the LTD insurance company to obtain that information. It was probably a brief paragraph at the end of the application above your signature spot that you probably didn't notice when you signed the application.

Or you may have signed other forms that included the authorization.

If the amount of the deduction equals the amount of your benefit then you quite likely did sign an authorization.
