Cool Using a Mother's Mental Problems to Get Custody of a Newborn

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Oregon

My ex while pregnant sent me a text saying she was going to drive into a tree, then tried to crash into my vehicle while I had a passenger and hit a tree and a fence but she swerved at the last second and didn't hit my vehicle. She was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment 2 counts, reckless driving, and criminal mischief. The next day I got a restraining order against her. Then 2 weeks later her mother called the cops to my house because she told her mother she would kill her self in front of my house but didn't show up. 3 days ago she violated the restraining order and was re-arrested for it. Also 3 months before she was pregnant she tried to slice her wrists, she still has large scar on her wrist from that incident. I have documented proof of these and other past reckless behaviors like driving 100 mph to start an argument with me. She also see a psychiatrist for anger management issues. Does the fact that she tried to injure her unborn child and her self multiple times and other people factor into a custody hearing. I would like to get physical custody of my unborn child after birth. I also don't have a way of finding out when and where she will give birth or a way to establish paternity. So if anyone experienced in these matters can push me in the right direction that would be fantastic.

Thanks for any and all advice.

If she was suicidal prior to pregnancy why did you impregnate her allegedly? You most likely won't get custody of the child after birth.

Her mental state may well play into any custody hearing. However, you will get nowhere simply spouting random thoughts or unsupported claims before the court. In order to best position yourself for custody or visitation you really should engage an attorney to assist you in the process. Unless you kow how to legally get information on mm's fitness, or to appeal for the court for an evaluation, you will likely fail in that regard.
