Thank you again for your reply. As I said she is owed nothing and there is no unused vacation time to speak of. I believe it truly comes down to the fact that the owner offered it out of goodwill and once she did that, she can't change her mind now. She is simply being taken advantage of.
As a side note, does anyone happen to know if there is any difference in the way the pay is classified? Should we just cut her a check after withholding taxes or write out a personal check with a memo of "gift" or something since it surely isn't vacation pay. Does it have any affect on any future unemployment claims/dates/amounts the "opportunist" is sure to file? Or taxes?
