Default Sold a car, buyer never paid

i sold a car to a relative,he agreed to the price.i handed him title signed by me and all other info left blank.he said he would bring money over 3 days later.he never did and says he has title and isnt going to pay.now i left info blank in case this happened.he would have to forge info that was to be completed by seller.wouldnt that make it void?i also filed for a lost title since he never transfered it to his name.do i have the right to reposses the car with this duplicate title?i know i should have never handed the title to him,but he is family and we have always had a great relationship.now im out this money and im really hot about it.what can i do?

Did you read the part of the title where it tells you not to leave any portions blank before signing it?

If he has never registered the title and you still are the sole title holder, you can take the car back - but you could end up in court over it. If you try to take the car back make sure you notify the local police so they don't treat it as a theft.
