Default Landlord Has Not Removed Feces and Urine After Racoon Infestation

My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: ohio

My apartment is like a 1 story guest house behind a multifamily home. Shortly after moving in, a family of raccoons moved into the attic. They tore 2 huge holes in the roof. It took me 3 weeks to get the landlords to take care of the problem and when they did, they poisoned the animals. 2 months later, our attic is still full of urine and feces and the landlord hasn't done anything. I am a transplant recipient who is immuno compromised and they know this. I've contacted the city and they are unable to help me and suggested a lawyer. If anyone can give me advice I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much.

P.S. They also waited weeks to repair the holes in the roof and we had a lot of bad rain.

Are you a month-to-month tenant, or do you have a longer lease term? If you're month-to-month, or if your lease is about to end, consider giving your notice and moving.

Does your city not license and inspect rental housing? If they do, why were they unable to help?

Yea they don't license and inspect. I am on a 1 yr lease and this will start my 5th month there. Occasionally the feces will fall from the attic access hole onto the bathroom floor as well.

And you're in a state with weak landlord-tenant laws.

If you want to move, consider starting a discussion with your landlord about an early release from your lease based upon the condition of the premises.

If you think it will be necessary to litigate, try exploring these resources to see if you can find free or affordable representation.
