My question involves criminal law for the state of: Virginia

Q1. Does buying merchandise knowingly will return in a later date constitute crime? Return in unopened/unused/original condition, not intended for "free rental". It's all about getting "return credit" transactions on credit card to avoid interest charges. Or is it a kind of credit card fraud if it's not a return fraud?

Q2. Background: I found a computer glitch on a recent promotion from a chain of department stores, which get 20% bonus back in store credit after purchase. The policy is that the bonus should be avoided (or $ amount will be deducted from refund if store credit already spent) if original purchase was returned. However the glitch is that sometime(not always) the store credit are still available after getting full refund from return of original item. No hacking activities involved, just a glitch on their end. My question is, is it unethical/criminal to spend the store credit that earned by exploiting the this glitch?
