Default Paying a Doctor to Prescribe Controlled Substances

    hello-

I am a narcolepsy patient. my symptoms are treated with high dose amphetamines. unfortunately massive doses are indicated in the treatment of my symtoms. I can actually go right to sleep after consuming the normal maximum amt. rxed!

I have HAD IT w/what I go through convincing an md to continue my regimen I at first get a new md. I know it's illegal for the md to accept $10k -or is it? - yet I feel it must be legal for me, as a contingency plan, to offer this amount in cash-and produce it- if he declines to rx the 300mg/d of schedule II medicine Adderall.

would I be guilty of a crime in producing and offering the cash?

Yes, you would. Here's an idea, get a doc and stick with them. Otherwise, it looks like you're doctor shopping.

The doctor would put in your medical history that you're seeking drugs and that would be seen by every doctor you visit.

If you paid a doctor that kind of money for a prescription, it would very obviously be a payment to get drugs, not a payment for medical care. Even before we get to the issue of potentially lethal or toxic doses and associated malpractice liability, no doctor who wants to keep his license or stay out of jail is going to go along with that proposal.

If you have built up an excessive tolerance to Adderall, you can ask your doctor about a different medication (a different CNS stimulant or a wakefulness drug) that might provide the desired effect at a safe dose.
