Hi, I am a US citizen by naturalization since 2011. My fiancé applied for Political asylum December 2004. Because he started the process right at the airport, he was placed in the Atlanta detention Center while the process took place. While he was there was told that for his own security could not communicate with nobody and that the process for him to go out of the detention center and enter a normal life as a refuge would take anywhere between 1 to 10 years. For that reason he decided to stop the asylum process and left the country voluntarily and within the time that was granted by the judge March 2005. We started our relationship in 2012 and are currently engaged. He applied for a tourist visa to come visit in 2012 and it was denied. We would like to apply for a Fiance visa, as we think it would be the easiest/fastest way for him to come here. However, we want to know if maybe applying for a new tourist visa would be better; or also, if we should instead get married and then apply for a K-3 visa. If he had a 10 year ban, it should had already expired. Thank you for your help.
