Question H.O.A. problem with my boat in Florida

I recently moved into a new property and disclosed I had a boat on my application. Within a week of move-in the H.O.A is giving me notice I have to move it. I think the property manager or landlord should be responsible for not telling me I couldn't have it but they say they did not know until now. Can I break my lease for this or make them pay my storage fees? Any advice is appreciated.

Does your lease say you can store a boat?

My lease does not address parking a boat at the house. under the Use of Premisis paragraph it says:

"Tenant shall comply with all the sanitary laws, ordinances, rules, and orders of appropriate governmental authorities affecting the cleanliness, occupancy, and preservation of the Leased Property, and the sidewalks connected thereto, during the Lease Term."

Is a H.O.A. considered an appropriate governmental authority?

I would think I can terminate my lease if I can't keep my boat since they didn't tell me, or even make the owner pay for my storage. It is only a 17ft boat. Thank you for your thoughts.

The HOA is not a governmental authority. However, without anything in your lease which authorizes you to store your boat, you're likely SOL in terms of recourse against your landlord.
