    Default Green Card and Shoplifting

My question involves criminal records for the state of: Utah

I made a stupid decision to take something from a store, i was taken to the security room and the loss prevention guy called the cops, when he showed up he read my Miranda rights and then proceeded to ask me what had happened, I was scared out of mind and I've never been in a situation like that so I basically confessed him that I had in fact comited the crime, he then gave me a citation.

I hired a lawyer and he said that I had a good chance of getting charged for a less serious offense like a criminal mischief, the prosecutor didn't agree at the first hearing so we scheduled for another one (which is next week) so we could be able to talk to another prosecutor. The previous prosecutor agreed to chance it to a class c misdemeanor for attempted theft. I have just recently found out I am pregnant and I'm planning on getting married as soon as possible, however, I am currently on an international student visa status.

My question is, if I was to accept the charges proposed first by the prosecutor ( class c misdemeanor for attempted theft) will this affect me being able to adjust my status after getting married? Will I be able to fix my immigration status? What charges would not affect me?

You are the criminal. You do not get to decide what charges are filed. You should be adversely affected otherwise you will continue this behavior. If you were worried about immigration, you should have considered that before you took something without paying for it. Get attorneys and pay many times what you saved by stealing. Does your fiance know what you did? He may not want to deal with the repercussions to his life having you listed on the criminal databases.
