Default How to Adopt an Infant Sibling Who May Be Abused or Neglected

My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: Michigan
I found out yesterday that I have a half sister who is about 6 months old. My bio-father and his girlfriend had already had the first taken away due to neglect, and now little Thomas is in a foster home. So now that i have a sister, I don't want that happening to Bianca. My bio-dad is an alcoholic, verbally abusive, was abuse to my mother physically when they were married and verbally to me, he also has 2 other children who he has neglected. They are now 19 and 20. I guess what I really want to know is, if I am able to get custody of my sister or maybe even adopt her so that she wont have to see him or go through anything the rest of us kids have had to,....do I have a chance? I so badly want to get her out of that situation! A friend of ours live near him an often tell us how bad she smells and that her diaper always look full, that shes constantly crying. Its breaking my heart. I do not want her in a foster home... there have been too many cases where the children were worse off there then at home. I don't know what to do

She appears to be 26 years old but works selling MLM weight loss products. Note to the original poster: you may wish not to use your real name in these posts.

I asked about your age because there have been times when we have had 18 year olds, or even minors, asking about getting custody of siblings. There's a whole different issue there.

However, as Doggie says, it's still not likely.

Unless you can get the parents to agree, you have zero chance unless it is PROVEN that the parent/s are legally unfit.

So far, you have nothing at all. 6 month old babies cry. A LOT. They're not good at timing their bowel movements, either. And frankly, someone somewhere is grossly exaggerating. If that someone is telling you these tales, ask yourself why s/he hasn't called CPS.

For what its worth, for every foster home failure you read about there are probably ten thousand successes.

I'd argue that MLM weight loss products as a whole are either ineffective or come with potentially deadly side effects. Questionable judgment on OP's part.
