Domestic Assault by Somebody Who is on Probation

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Washington D.C.
My brother was released from jail about 7 months ago after doing 7 years. His behavior has changed recently after my mother announced that she only has 1yr left to live. On Farthers day he punched me in the face and caused me to get 8 stiches in my lip. I left the house for a few days and didn't press charges because I knew it would hurt my mother to see him go back to jail considering he has 10yrs back time over his head. However, now his anger is towards her because he is not getting his way. He is on probation and stays with my mom. He is brutally disrespectful, he threatens her, and refuses to leave her home. He says he has no where else to go. I want to press charges now to help him get away from her. He doesn't understand that he is killing her quicker with stress. She wants him to leave it has only Been 4 days since the incident do I still have time to press charges? Also can his probation officer help remove him from the home if my mom ask her to do so?

If your mom wants to get him out of the house she may file charges, seek a protective order, commence eviction proceedings, or take whatever other steps she believes may help.
