Default How to Get a Divorce Case to Move Forward

My question involves a marriage in the state of: Divorce.

Thank you for reading my post, here is a little background. My husband and I have been separated for the last 4 years after I caught him being unfaithful. He left our home that weekend and didn't live in the house for well over 2 years. I came home from work one day about a year ago and he was all moved back in and has been making my life miserable ever since. He goes thru my purse, goes thru my cell phone and sends messages to all the men on my contact list. He takes my work keys and hides them. I talked to my attorney and was told there is nothing that can be done unless he physically hits me. I live in emotional distress and mental anguish with this man in the house, he constantly yells at me and confronts me. I basically live in my bedroom in a 4 bedroom house due to being confronted anytime I am elsewhere in the house. He refuses to do anything in regards to divorce. I have filed the divorce papers in March of 2014.

Sorry for the long intro, my question is: How can I get the divorce moving forward? He is unwilling to do anything at all on his end. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Contact your attorney and see what is happening.

Divorce is not a state. We can't help you if you are going to play games with us.

He doesn't have to do anything to advance the case he filed. If he has not done anything, or much of anything, for four years it's surprising that the court hasn't dismissed the case. You and your lawyer can keep the case you filed (presumably a counter-claim on the pending divorce or, if it was in fact dismissed, a new case) moving forward because you control the progress of a case that you file.

I apologize for the mistake. I was confused when I filled out my question. I am in the state of Pennsylvania.

    Thank you,

Hello and thank you for your response. I am actually the one that filed for the divorce. It was filed in Bucks County, Pennsylvania if that helps?

If you are failing to diligently prosecute your divorce case, that's not something you can pin on your ex-. If you are unable to move your case along as a pro se litigant, consider retaining a lawyer.
