    Default Missing spouse

Married in LA 1997, husband ran through my savings and credit cards, leaving me in debt. He sent me to florida to live with my parents until he retired, two years. He announced he would not return, retired, took his pension and disappeared. Last I heard from him was Jan 01. I'm still in Florida and have no desire to involve myself with him; I've rebuilt and would like to marry again and put him behind me, but can't find him. One florida attorney said LA is jurisdiction, LA attorney said Florida is jurisdiction. Its a simple matter; he's got his, I don't want his, I just want out. Where do I start, and can I do it alone?

You can get divorced anywhere you want. But Louisiana may have jurisdiction over the marital estate, if any, such that a Florida court would not be able to resolve the property issues (or spousal support).
