Default Permanent Resident Was Charged with Domestic Violence

My question involves criminal law for the state of: New York.

i and my pregnant wife got into an argument about not taking our son to go sleep outside of our home which was something she recently was doing. She got into a fight with me cos I didn't let her take our son. She fought me several times and hit me all over while I had our son on my arm.i tried to defend myself from the slaps and beatings by slapping her back which I am not proud of what I did but I had to defend myself some how cos the hitting where getting too much.

then she called the cops and i was charged for domestic violence and spent a night at the prisinct then saw a judge who issued an order of protection and asked me to leave the house for a month. Wife is not pressing charges. Matter of she went to the DA office to drop the charges based on what she told them when she called the cops. My next court date is a week from now and also I am in the process of renewing my green card. I will like toknow how this affect my process. We have a son and a baby on the way. Please advise.
