My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Illinois

Not sure if this is the right place for this question but here goes.

A few weeks ago, a previous employer gave information to investigators at my current job regarding a record I had expunged. They had gone so far as to provide them a paper copy of the case history. The offense was a misdemeanor and I received supervision. Two years after the supervision was completed, I had the record expunged. In Illinois, an expunged record cannot be disclosed at all (even to law enforcement) without a court order. I want to know if I can pursue this as a civil matter. I would think that this would be negligence at the very least. Would this be something that would be worth bringing a case for?
