Arrested by CBP While in Violation of Felony Probation

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California

So my friend and I went to Mexico for a family emergency and tried to come back a couple hours later. We got stopped by CBP and sent to second inspection. Everything was clear until they ran my friends info further and realized he had a warrant out (my friend didn't know, he was currently on parole.) They also found a vaporizer pen in the car and a small amount of a marijuana joint. He is currently in jail and what I want to know is what can happen to him? I am not familiar with criminal law..I looked him up online to see if he was booked yet and found that his charge is felony violation of parole. So do we lawyer up? He is still being processed. So there is no further information as we have also not had contact with him yet.

Leaving the country alone was a serious parole violation...let alone the rest of it. He may very well have to finish his sentence in prison.

So, he left prison on parole, absconded by leaving the country, had paraphenelia, had weed and you want to know what could happen to him? Prison time and if he's is not legally in this country, possible deportation.

no he was born in the US, so no chance of deportation.
