My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Alabama
I applied for a Healthcare job at a hospital. My background check revealed an arrest for a "possession of controlled substance". I am in the process of pleading out the charge and having it expunged. My question is this... I see a physician that works for this same hospital. He is a pain management Dr and I have been his patient for 15 yrs. Very recently he decided to stop treating me. He does provide me with medication, but in no way is it a large amount of narcotics by any means. His decision to stop seeing me has left me questioning whether the hospital could have shared the info from the background check with him. There has been a large amount of arrests of dirty doctors in recent weeks in Alabama and I wonder if the hospital is doing crosschecks on patients that belong to that group of physicians vs anyone who might have applied for a job or been denied a job. It just all happened so close together that it made me suspicious and my physician is being very vague as to why he made his decision. Can info be shared in this way or does it even matter since it's public record?
