My question involves civil rights in the State of: Pennsylvania
My cousin is finally being released TODAY after 9 months in jail awaiting trial. His ex-girlfriend accused him of rape after he agreed to let her family member adopt their daughter. They both have mental health issues. Over the 9 months he repeatedly told anyone who would listen that it was not him and he had not even seen her! After 9 months and 3 DNA tests, they finally let him go. They apologized to my aunt the "mistake". My cousin was on disability, so now he will apply again and should start received his check soon. My question is, does he have a legal standing for compensation? My aunt would like to have him move to a different apartment so the ex does not know where he lives. My cousin is very worried that she could do something like this again. He is now the victim, but the ex is a homeless vagrant, so nothing to pursue there. Are there any grants or victims rights places that could help him?
Thank you!
