Default Parent Disapproves of Adult Child's Dating a Much Older Man

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida
I am 18 and my boyfriend is 32. My mom does not like him and informed me today that she has been talking to therapists and friends and family that have told her to report him as a pedophile. My mom is a control freak and does not like anyone I date, and in my mind regardless if I am with him or someone else they will always be older because I like older guys. Can she report him as a pedophile since I am 18?

    No, she can't.

But she has a point, too; a 32 year old who has found emotional and intellectual companionship with someone only half his age, or very nearly, has something wrong with him.

And don't bother telling me how more mature you are than most 18 year olds, no 18 year old is that mature. You may well be mature for your age, I'm not saying you're not - but a 32 year old would have to be exceedingly immature for his age to find equal companionship with the most mature 18 year old that ever lived.

    yeppers.

If you don't like the atmosphere in that home your mother is providing for you, go pay for your own, or let your boyfriend pay for one for you. Once you move out you can tell mom to leave you alone and you never have to talk to her again. So, pack your bags and move out right now. That would teach her who is in control here.
