My question involves child support in the State of: CA
Wasn't sure where the best place for this post would be, I apologize if I picked the wrong forum. My husband is the custodial parent and applied for child support in 2011. The mom was working when he applied, but wasn't working when the child support agency served her. Mom didn't show up to the hearing, but sent in her response claiming to not have income other than welfare for her other child. Because of this, the judge did not order child support but did order for mom to find and pay for half of the medical insurance for their child.
It is my understanding that welfare is not a life time deal, but I am having a hard time figuring out what those time limits are. I know mom was receiving food stamps for one of her children, and I believe food stamps have limit of 60 months, is that correct? Is that for a life time or does that reset for each child you have? What about cash aid?, it looks like that last about 3 years, or there is another form that lasts for 5 years but you have to be attempting to find work? Thank you
