I was visiting a city that is 3.5 hours away from where I live. I used to live in this town several years ago, and I was just site seeing. Well, without going into detail as it is a twilight zone experiance. I was informed by the police that someone is or was going to be pressing charges on me for stalking, and that when that happened, a warrant for my arrest would be issued.
The cop said I was free to go. I asked the city cop if they would be mailing this warrant to me as I didn't live there. The cop said no, and that if I came back to the city, then they would arrest me for it. It was my understanding that the individual had not yet pressed charges, but was going to.
Well, anyways I left and went back home 3.5 hours away, which is in the same state. If there is a warrant issued, would it show up in the town I live in? Meaning, if I get pulled over for speeding, will the warrant show up for the cop?
If so, would I be arrested by my local police on this? Or would the warrant only be actionable if I go back into that city again?
Oh, and for the record, I didn't stalk anyone. The cops decided to search my car and I had some names jotted down of people I used to know in the town. The cops called the people in my notebook, and one person said someone had been driving by her house making prank calls. I don't know how long this had been going on, but it wasn't me. The cops told me to have no contact with that person, and if I did, then they would arrest me for stalking. The cops said if anyone else on my list call with complaints, then they would issue a warrant for my arrest. WEIRD!!!
Anyway, I still had some site seeing to do. I would drive around and pull in a parking lot to turn around and go back up the road. This is a real small town. Well, I checked out of my hotel and talked to a lawyer because of the prior incident. I drove down a road and went back and a cop pulls me over. One of the same ones from before. The cop said that the person mentioned above called and said that I had drove around the restraunt building where she works at. The cop made it seem as if I had drove around this building in circles several times, which I know I didn't do anywhere. Now, I haven't made any contact with this person at all, nor did I know where she worked at. The cop said this person identified my car, license plate, and that there were cameras. Also, that there was a witness. WEIRD!!!
The only way this person would have known what I drove was cause the cop must have told her from before. He must have told her I was the one crank calling her. I don't know. All I know is I was driving around site seeing and I get pulled over.
So, I hope this person doesn't press charges, but if they do, I don't want to have to go back there.
