Default Will a Police Agency Find Out About a Job Applicant's Juvenile Arrest Record

Im currently looking to apply for california highway patrol agency but im worry that the police report "because i dont have a juvenille record" will disqualified me.

I was arrested for fighting in school with a gang member but i never got convicted of anything i dint even spend time in the juvenille dentention center. I was just there for a couple of hours.

It was my first time getting in trouble with the law. I wasn't in a gang i just got in an fight with the wrong person. I tried joining the military but got disqualified for that reason.

If anybody can help me out that will be great.

You were disqualified to join the military because you were arrested for a fight in school?? There may be something more to this story ...

How old were you when you were arrested? How old are you now?

Did you ever go to court for the offense? If so, what was the result? If not, did you see a juvenile probation officer? Were you placed on some form of diversion or "informal" probation?

I agree with CDW that there has to be more to this story. If the military could find out about whatever this event was, most police agencies can as well. And yes, some agencies will go as far as talking to people OUTSIDE of any official record (like inquiring to the local police department where you lived if they had any history with you...guess why the application wants all your past addresses .

I was 16 when the fight happen and im 21 now but the police report said it was a gang fight and that i was associated with gangs. I never went to court or got probation of any sort.

The military never conducted a search. They just ask me and i was honest with them. They said i should go to the juvnille dention facility i got arrested to check for my record. When i went they told they din't have a record for me. All they had was a police report and thats what i told the recruiter and he said that just with that i was desqualified.

The recruiter likely got a copy of the police report and they felt that was sufficient to disqualify you.

This is not an automatic disqualifier for employment with the CHP, but you can bet that they will ask you a lot of questions about it.
