Default Online Impersonation Involving Hacked Phone and Corporate Email

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Maine

A friend of mine had her iphone "hacked" by an ex-boyfriend who is now able to see her entire online presence including corporate email

Said ex-bf has sent texts, made facetime calls, and now sending emails out via her corporate email impersonating my friend.

This is all done to scare away friends, family, etc. as an isolating tactic. She is now in fear of this person.

I have been on the recieving end of these as have several other mutual friends.

My friend lives in Maine and I live in Kansas

What if any federal or state laws have been broken or what potential charges brought against him?

I'll leave the legal points to someone with more time/experience in the area. But priority #1 should be contacting Apple, letting them know the account has been compromised, so they can lock all associated phones, and can reset the account and secure it in a manner that the third party will not have access. She should also change her passwords to all accounts, and report the security breach to corporate IT/IS.

There is almost 0 chance he actually "Hacked" her phone. It is much more likely that she either gave him one of her old phones without wiping it, or he had access to her backups either via a backup on a computer/hard disk he has from when they were together, or by knowing the password to her iCloud account.

    brownj12,

Thanks for the response. I know she has taken her phone to the cell company to see in what way he was able to get into it. It's her work/personal cell. She's changed her iCloud/AppleID info to try and lock him out of it but we've still recieved contact after she's done this.

I've researched keyloggers for iPhone and so far all I've been able to find is that you have to jailbreak the phone in order to load this type of software onto the phone. I'm not savvy enough to understand how you can make the jailbroken OS look and act identical to iOS8

If you update the software on a jailbroken iPhone, it will no longer be jailbroken. Also, if you think your iPhone is jailbroken you can back up the content with iTunes, do a clean installation of the OS, then restore the backup.
