My question involves landlord-tenant law in the state of Maryland.
Past December, I gave a envelope with cash to my roommate to pay the rent for me because the office was closed, and I had to leave the same night. I figured out, the money never got to the landlord. He claims, he put the envelope in the front glass door, where everyone can see ( there is a rent drop off in the back door and he knows about it ). When my landlord enquired me about the rent, I was surprised and I asked him about the rent. He said he put in the door and also says he assumes full responsibility, with me and the landlord. He was very casual about it initially and say he will take care of it within a month. But every time I enquire about the money, he tries to fight. I even tried to settled down to half. I assume half responsibility, and half his. He said he was cool with it and will give me the money. However, I don't think he will ever give me the money. I am trying to see if I have any chance of the small claim court.
