You're absolutely right. You know it and I know it (I'm also 2A and carry daily) but often when I suggest firearm ownership somebody comes along with the "Oh, that's not the answer" routine.
It's what I would do...but I already carry, so I'm set. I've had relatives who had R/Os that did absolutely squat. Thankfully it never got "that serious". In my opinion, an R/O is for minor threats, i.e. you will have time to call the cops and press charges, etc. If one is truly in fear for their life, first stop should be the gun store.
