Default Amending the Parents Name on Child's Birth Certificate After the Parent's Name Change

My question involves name change laws in the State of: TEXAS

My daughter's father is changing his last name to a completely new last name due to personal preference (he's always hated his last name...and no one blames him). Daughter was already given the new last name he planned to use when she was born so there's no need to have her name changed now. But would it make sense to somehow amend her birth certificate to show HIS new legal name to avoid any confusion in the future over the fact that he really is her legal father? I'm not sure if this would ever even come up, but it seems like it might be an uphill battle for him to assert that he, "John Jones", is her father when her birth certificate clearly states that "John Smith" is her father. I suppose we could just keep a certified copy of his name change order together with her birth certificate just in case, but honestly I'd rather just have it changed.

I found simple forms for doing this in another state, but nothing for Texas. Everything just assumes we want to change Daughter's name or say that an entirely different man is her father.

Has anyone heard of this, or done this, or had issues with not doing this? Does it even matter?

Obviously it would have made more sense for him to have changed his name before she was born, but too late now...

Should the question ever come up (and yes, I can think of one or two situations when it might) it would most likely be far simpler just to attach a copy of the name change form than it would be to amend her birth certificate.

Texas offers a standard form for correcting birth records, which you can download here. For a "significant change in last name" the form requires submission of "a certified court order".

Thanks! This looks like what we need.
