My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California
Hi guys,
I am really lost right now. I had to break my lease and move out of my apartment early. After speaking with my landlord, she demanded that I find someone to sublease the apartment. Within one week, I found a suitable sublessee that was qualified with my landlord. This is where it gets complicated. When my landlord and the new sublessee were dealing with each other, somehow I was removed completely from the situation. The new sublessee signed an agreement with my landlord that has terms that I have absolutely no knowledge of and my landlord collected a deposit from the new sublessee which goes against the whole sublease method. The landlord is keeping my deposit until the original lease expires which worries me because the landlord has threatened me by telling me she would call the police if I try to contact my sublessee. Does anyone know what I can do???
