Default Immigration for a Fiance with a Drug Conviction

I live in Canada and my long distance boyfriend of 7 years lives in the US. We want to get married and we talked about him moving to Canada but he has a felony drug charge, would that affect his eligibility to move to Canada to be with me even after we get married? I also have 2 sons from a previous relationship, would he be able to adopt them while living in the US and if so would that help his eligibility for entrance into Canada?

This is a U.S. forum. You can review this information on Canadian immigration for convicted criminals, but if you need additional information or analysis of your boyfriend's situation you should consult a Canadian legal forum or immigration lawyer.
