As someone else said...$120, this is NOT her first time stealing.

Since she used a tool in the commission of a crime, this would increase the charge.

If you have worked LP, you know they are likely going through surveillance tapes. And they have 1-2 years (depends on SOL in your state) to file charges.

She may walk into the store and promptly get escorted to the LP office. The police may knock on her door any minute or day.....

If I am wasting your time then do not reply, not my fault you didnt take advantage of your free will and they are not what ifs. They are genuine questions I have about the process.
Don't you already know? You've worked LP.

    Or not.

I HAVE filed charges on shoplifters MONTHS after they stole and I became aware of their identity.

I ask because I was always told we had to be in the bathroom while the device was being removed.

    On what planet?

Don't mistake company policy for LAW. That's a big mistake people make. Company policies vary from company to company.

Sometimes policies are bent; sometimes that's ok with the bosses, sometimes not.

Either way, you can go to jail.

If my store has a policy that says "No one piece fitting room stops," and I catch you going in the fitting room and stealing one item, you can and might still go to jail for that. I might get written up, or I might look at my boss and say "oh, yeah, oops. Sorry," and he might let the matter drop. Either way, if you want to argue the legality of the stop you won't have a leg to stand on. And I HAVE violated such policies and dealt with my boss later when there was someone I really wanted locked up.

Let me re-phrase that for Adjusterjack:

All the "what ifs" in the world aren't going to change that so how about you stop wasting your time.
