Default Will a Shoplifter Get Caught From the Security Camera Footage

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Iowa
Didn't get caught shoplifting, will they still get me on camera?
This is all I can think about throughout my day. I just can't stop. I have so much guilt and regret. You all can say whatever you want about how terrible of a person I am. It's nothing I don't already know. So I've stolen so much makeup in the past 7-8 months from multiple different stores and never have gotten caught. It's just now for some reason scaring me that I could be. I don't know if I will but I'm scared. I threw everything I've ever stolen away because I can't even stand to look at it anymore. The last time I stole I took two items amounting to $44. No one in the store was suspicious of me at all. No one was even close to me the whole time. There was one worker writing in a notebook which bothered me, but I bet it was nothing. I just took off the sticker, took out my phone, put them in the same hand then put them in my pocket. I'm not even sure if they'll look at their cameras. How likely is it that they will? I never once left behind packaging for suspicion. And the town has a fairly high crime rate with bigger fish to fry but I don't know....how likely is it that I'll get caught?

There's no way of knowing whether or not you'll get charged. The fact that you've done it multiple times - same store or not - dramatically increases the chances of somebody catching on. The good news is that you're free for now - the bad news is that you'll probably have to wait at least a year to find out if you're truly in the clear.

Get some help or you'll do it again and at some point your luck runs out.

Bad news is...it's January and a lot of stores are doing Inventory. Which means stock loss will be more noticeable, and they may have their LP people start going through footage.

    As suggested, get some counseling.

And let me tell you my story. I got my caught my very first time.
$2103 in legal fees (lawyer, court costs and fines, Civil Demand).

Now the added fun. Difficulty finding employment for 5 years. So...take an annual income of $20,000 times that by 5.5 years (when I was able to get my record expunged)...do the math as to how much income I lost. $100,000+.....

Now next time you have the urge to shoplift....ask if the court costs, fines, criminal record, worry is worth it?

I don't know how likely it is that you'll get caught but I sincerely hope you are.

    Little story...

3rd interview for a job yesterday.....

This time I have the manager I am interviewing with....go up to the room with him....inside are two more people (one of those 3 people interviewing you things). All I had in mind for a minute was 3 people in that little LP room and I about had a panic attack.

Nothing to worry about. Stores pay tens of thousands of dollars to install shoplifter cameras, then aim them at walls, ceilings and floors so they never see anything going on.

Why don't you try not stealing stuff? How likely is it that you get caught? The answer is how likely are they to figure out your name based on your image on the security cameras. Guaranteed you are on there, and guaranteed they know you stole stuff. Now they are trying to ID you. No one can say if they will be successful or how long it will take. The town having "bigger fish to fry" is completely irrelevant. You stole from a private company. Private companies exist to make profit. You interfered with that. Forget the cops. The store wants to ID you to send you a civil demand.
