    Default Check Fraud

I have a relative who stole a check from his sister. He signed his name on the bottom of the check as if it was his account and then used it to have his tires aligned at a tire store. His sister found out (she works at a bank) and told her bank. The bank is now going to get her money back from the tire store and the tire store will now know the check was taken. What options does the tire store have now that the check will come back as stolen?? And what will happen to my relative who took the check and used it??
Can my relative make amends with the tire store before they call the law? Should he go to the tire store before the check is returned and pay back the amount he wrote the check for?? What are his options so that he wont go to jail??

A: You can be charged with forgery and go to prison.

He needs to immediately go ot the tire store and pay them the full amount plus any bank charges. If he does this they will probably not file charges.
