    Default Criminal record confusion

i'm from nj and im 18 years old. i just got caught shoplifting at a department store. i was taken to the back, they took all my information. they made me pay for all the items, which was around 300 and some dollars. i also was made to pay some kind of fee [$150] so that i dont get sued by the department store. i was also told i was not allowed to go into the store anymore, and that if i did, it would be considered trespassing. the police were not called, and i asked them if that was it, and they said they wrapped it up. i asked if i should be expecting anything, like a call or something in the mail, and they said that's it, i should expect nothing. I dont know if i now have a criminal record or not, because the police were not called. please help, im very nervous!

Since the police weren't involved, there isn't a criminal record.

This was a civil fine from the store and as long as you do not go back to the store, it is over.

    You got a lucky break.
