Default What Happens when a Disabled Person's Next of Kin is a Minor Child

My question involves estate proceedings in the state of: California my friends son was in a bad car wreck and is on life support. 4 massive brain injuries. His next of kin is a minor child he was not ever married to the mother. Who has the right to decide to end life support? Is it his mother?

It would be the injured person's parents, jointly.
