It is very hard to regain full custody. What happened to make you lose it or give it up?

Well, it all started about 3months after my son was born. I ended up with the symptoms of postpartum depression. Didn't know I had. But me and the son's dad got into a big argument one night, & I ended up stabbing him in the leg. I wasn't intentional. But I ended up going to jail for 3 weeks. Got let out on pretrial release. And was and was scheduled to go to a residential facility.Yes, Child care Protective Services got involved. But I successfully completed that with all my rights. No harm towards my son. And right before I went to that facility. My son's dad was lock for a couple couple burglaries. After finding that out I just could really compile with where I was at. So then they sent me to prison and I stayed in the for a year. And my son's dad, also stay incarcerated. He got out a month before me. Got a job very quickly and found somewhere to stay with our son.

As soon as I got out, he wanted to serve me with custody papers... I did not have a job but I had somewhere to leave. Had no money for any of the classes recommended by the court. Once the dead line came to complete these classes with a 5 or 6 month period it was too late, And the court made a decision based on that.

Even if you didn't have Dad's status quo to deal with, you've shown that you're not managing your anger. You stabbed Dad. That would certainly raise a few eyebrows in court.

But that aside how long has Dad had custody?
