My question involves criminal law for the state of:
NEW JERSEY
Okay, so a month ago, this girl I was dating stole my credit card without me knowing on a Monday night. She went out with her "guy friend" that night, and they both went to New York city. I only recently checked the chargges on my card using my amex app on my phone. I then noticied all those charges on that day and instantly knew it could only be that girl. I called the stores and they confirmed they have video footage of it and confirms its the girl. They can only give it to law enforcement. It happened in multiple townships on the way to new york city from central jersey. The total is very little, only 70$, but I also lost 100$ from my wallet that day and I presume it was her.
This girl is now in another state for two months(shes in rehab for drug abuse). One month left. How can I bring charges against her and what degree is this crime in new jersey? Is it a felony(fourth degree and above). Also how will the police get the tapes from all the other townships? I told the stores to have them ready so I did all the work for the police basically, all they have to do is pick up the tapes showing her using my card. I'm filing the police report tomorrow because it happened in an area far from me, where I was residing for college, I'm on holiday break now.
