Unhappy What Happens After Being Denied Entry to USA

    Hi,

Im hoping someone can help me. I have an Iranian friend who has been trying to come to USA for 3 years now. He has went through everything and tried every thing possible. He even hired a lawyer and was finally granted a tourist visa. I didnt realize until recently that even if you get a tourist visa that its only good for leaving your current country but not guaranteed that you are allowed into USA at port of entry. My friend was suppose to come here in mid July, it's now December and I havent even heard from him since we last spoke online the day of his flight . What could have happened? I checked all plane crashes and there were none around those dates or locations. I was told from another Iranian that it's normal for that to happen to Iranians. If they are denied and dont want to go back to their country, they put them in some kind of camp? Is that true? And how long do they have to stay there? How long until they are allowed to contact family/friends? I am sooo worried about him, he is like family and I cant imagine what hes going through. Its not like him to not contact me if he were able to so I know something is very wrong. Does anyone know about what happens if they are denied entry to USA.. what options they are given? And if they are held somewhere, does anyone know the name of the organization? I really need some help, thank you!

If he was simply rejected by immigration at the airport, they would just have put him into an office until the first return flight. Something else is going on.

Yes that's what I am trying figure out because no matter what I come up with, nothing takes that long. But from my understanding, someone told me it is normal they can hold you in some camp for even a year or more . But I don't know what kind of camp or if they even can eventually contact family /friends.

Maybe I am being silly here, but if he was really your best friend and you two knew each other so well, why would he not have reached out to you already? I know it might be strange, but those are not internment camps, he is allowed a phone call to you if he was in fact being held there.

If he doesn't want to return Iran, it is probably completely expected that he was denied entry on his tourist visa. The B1 is not intended to be a way to get your foot in the door to an eventual unlawful presence.

Just because you have not heard from him does not mean that he did not arrive in the US and intentionally disappear. How well do you really know this person? Online only or ???

Yeah I know that because he has been through hell just to get tourist visa. How long he has to stay in detention center? I read about these "detention centers" online and they are for people who are illegal and do not have legal documentation, such as tourist visa. Detention centers are basically like putting them in jail, not much difference. Most of the detention centers are in USA but I don't think he even got to USA. And plus I read all the time limits for getting papers registered and awaiting hearing etc, maybe takes 2 months TOPS.. not 6. So what other option is there?

Well I know him and he would never stay past the given time period and become illegal. Because he knows for fact that he will probably never get opportunity to visit here again, and he went through hell for it so why would he throw it away?

We have been best friends for over 4 years. And since I didn't help him get here in any way, its impossible that he would intentionally use me for it :|. He did everything on his own so its not like he was using me just to get in USA. I know him probably better than I know myself lol.
