    Question Home visits

my husband just changed probation officers, and today while he was at work the probation officer came to the house.no one is usually home but i have the flu so he woke me up when he came to the door. he asked if he was there, i told him no he was at work and then he asked me if he could see where we sleep and a piece of mail with his name on it. i told him that we are staying with my parents so we sleep on the couch for now and we have only been here for a couple of weeks and he has no mail. he then asked who owned the house and i told him my uncle did but my parents are renting from him. he then verified my name and said he would be back later! what could he possibly want? was he just doing a unplanned home visit?

    Default Re: Home visits

It sounds as though he was attempting to verify that your husband was, in fact, staying there as presumably that is the address that was given to the probation officer. Probation officers like to keep tabs on those they supervise and do so announced and sometimes unannounced. If a probationer tells the probation officer he is living in one place and in fact has moved to another place without notifying the porbation officer that may in and of itself constitute a probation violation.
