You're polishing your halo right now, aren't you?
Ohhh, now, I'm sure her halo is just beatutiful! I'm just curious if someone added a little horn action to her, to keep keep it straight
And the C word? Really? That's fighting words right there. If my husband called me that he'd need to see the surgeon to get my foot extracted from his hiney. Or his head. LOL
Yeah, me too, if it were anyone else. He'd already struck me before, but all this is what even allowed me to retort to him. That, or I thought he wouldn't have heard me. But, he did, LOL
All silliness aside, you or your lawyer didn't happen to make copies of the docs you turned in to the judge, did you? Always always always make copies.
I do have copies. But lawyer said without a hint of them in the file, it could be construed that we're trying to use them after the fact, even though we gave copies to the other party.
And why can't you get the court transcript? That's just odd. When my husband's case with his ex was active I ordered transcripts of every proceeding. Hell, I was literally on a first name basis with the court reporter.
Apparently, some type of computer glitch, kept the transcripts from being saved? I'd only heard of manual transcripts, not electronic. At any rate, they're pretty much gone.
Something hinky went down in your case. I know appeals cost a butt ton of money but is there anyone in your family or a close friend who could loan you the money? Anyone at all?
I wish. my lawyer's retainer was $5k, and we went through that in the first year. I know my OP sounds like it all went down in a hurry, but it went down over a 15 MO time period. And I already tapped out family. My grandparents gave me money when they sold some land, my mom gave me money out of an insurance check from a vehicle pay off(which hurt her, b/c it took $ from her buying what she actually WANTED. My husbands parents gave me almost a grand, because his father went through something slightly similar with their mom. I had a second vehicle(a trusty rusty back up, that had coughed it's last bit of rust, and I got lucky and found someone who wanted THAT car, and sold it for more than it's value(which is how I was able to afford the dual lease situation for 3 months). I'm tapped. In fact, I'm paying my mom back that $, and grandparents said it was a gift, so did FIL, so I got lucky there(although all around, really).
You might also get a consult with another attorney who specializes in appellate work. If the case generates enough interest you might even find someone who is willing to take it on pro bono. You need to move quickly though. I don't know the time frame for filing an appeal.
