My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Georgia
I am a sixteen year old girl and I turn 17 in few months. I want people's opinions on me wanting to be emancipation. First let me tell you alittle about myself. I make straight A's and I am in 11th grade. I plan on attending college and becoming either a counselor or a teacher. I have a part time job and I am in clubs at my school. However at my house I feel as if it is at the point where I just can't take it anymore. My parents are divorce and I live with my mother and my step father. My mother does not work and on top of that she does not cook, clean, or anything a mother should do. I am the oldest of my brothers and sister and I cook for them (and my parents) and I clean up after them. At the moment we don't even have hot water or heat because it was not paid. My mother won't even let me go to a friends house to take a shower. She makes me sleep on the couch because she does not "trust" me in my own room. Like I said before I am a straight A student and I never get in trouble but all of a sudden she has a hatred toward me. She has laid her hands on me once and hasn't since then. My step dad works when he wants to work. Some days he just doesn't want to go in and some days he does. The other day I was in my mothers bathroom looking for perfume(I was getting ready for work) and I opened her drawer and found a meth pipe. I need to get out of this house because I feel I will be safer.
So with everything I have told yall. I have done loads of research on emancipation. Do yall think the judge would agree or do you believe I have a legit reason to leave? Also how long would the process take?
