Default What Happens when You Lose Custody

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Indiana
My ex bf is taking me to court for sole custody. I live with my bf who has a couple small felonies for domestic battery. It's only a D felony so he spent just 6 months locked up for it. He hit me once, but I took my baby from him and I hit him first. but the judge will probably give my ex custody anyways. So if he does give my exex custody, then how would that work? Would the judge have me hand my son to my ex or would he make the court order first and wait for that to go through? Will the judge make his decision right away or take his tine with it?

Generally the transfer of custody would happen forthwith, but something has got to be wrong with you that you would sacrifice your child for your boyfriend...

Not only can you lose custody to Dad because of your relationship with Mr. Excitement, you can end up with supervised visitation and be ordered to pay child support.

I hope Mr. Excitement is worth it. The child will certainly be better off with Dad, based on everything you've shared about the two of you.

I think Dad is a better idea even without the obvious.

I'm still not convinced we don't have a troll here. She's done just about all of the steps...starting off with an eye-roll worthy situation, and then adding "oh no she dint!" information which just gets more unlikely as time goes on.

In fact... she reminds me of someone...

    Okay, that's enough.

You are a troll. Please return to your bridge promptly.

    Time to stop feeding you.
