Exclamation What to do after being charged with retail fraud

Im from MI and am 20years old. Ive been caught and convicted for retail fraud in which I've writing a statment admitting what Ive done, and have co-operated in everyway possible, including getting the merc. back. Now I have a warrent issued and am going downtown and will be bonding out. Its a first time offence for me. Where do I go from here? should I get a lawyer and attempt to defer the charges or plead for mercy in court. Also I'm a college student who wants this to be taken care of in a timly manner.
    Thanks

You have been charged with a criminal offense yes an Attorney would be advisable! Ask your Attorney about diversion programs that could help keep a conviction off your record

You say you were "caught and convicted", but the rest of your post suggests that criminal proceedings have only just started. If this is the start of the criminal case, consult a local lawyer to see whether your county offers a diversion program for shoplifting cases, what sentencing options are available in your county which might allow you to avoid a criminal conviction, and your eligibility for sentencing under Michigan's HYTA law.
