First of all, I can't believe I'm here asking this question. I just graduated law enforcement academy 2 weeks ago, took my state exam today. I get home to find out a very close friend of mine had a local PD detective show up at his house today to talk to him about something. He wasn’t home, he was at work but his wife called him while he was at work and my friend offered to meet him whenever, where ever.

Backtracking here, 2 years ago this friend of mine was fired from a job that he had held a medical practice doing ultrasounds for many years. Apparently a female patient complained that he made inappropriate comments, and touched her in appropriately while he was doing a breast ultrasound. My friend is a male, and had a female nurse in the room with him during this procedure. He was fired shortly after the accusation was made. No internal investigation, no questioning with chance to explain or rebuttal. Just plain out fired. I told him 2 years ago to squash this by fighting the firing if nothing else to just clear his name. The owner of the practice has been being investigated for a long time for insurance fraud. A charge my friend confronted him about before his firing. (the patient that accused my friend and the nurse that was in the room are personal friends of the owner and were well aware of the fraud investigation). That all being said my friend stands by his innocence saying that he was wrongly fired.

He never thought another thing about it till today when this detective showed up saying that this woman has made a complaint.... 2 years later. As I understand it there is no statute of limitations on sexual assault/battery.

My question is, my friend has a meeting with this detective this week. Should he go ahead and lawyer up now? Or wait to hear what the detective asks? My friend has asked that I be there for this interview. Like I said, I just graduated law enforcement academy so I know a little bit about what COULD happen. I am just looking for any advice. Thanks for reading.
