My question involves criminal law for the state of: California, Santa Clara.
Hi,
So few weeks ago i was given a citation for having an expired bus pass while taking the VTA to work in Santa Clara.
I was suppose to get the updated bus pass at work and i forgot about it expired on that date.
I'm ready to pay the fine because is purely my own mistake for not knowing the date of expiration.
However, two weeks laters, I still did not receive a notice to appear letter after two weeks. I checked the scscourt.org website and i couldn't pull my case because i don't know my citation#.
Then today i found the yellow stub the officer gave me, and turns out the officer misspelled my name and my address; probably because i have a thick accent.
The officer never asked me for my drivers license, or anything else other than confiscating my bus pass. I think he might've saw my employee card and my employee number.
So now i'm worried because i might've committed a fraud by telling the officers the wrong informations, and i have no ways of finding my case # on the scscourt site.
What should my proper approach be?I'd imagine i should be calling VTA and court, but i want to settle this ASAP.
Many thanks.
