My question involves criminal law for the state of New Jersey.
I was charged in June for simple assault but the charges were upgraded to aggravated assault due to injuries to the victim (broken nose). I was in a fight after a bachelor party and was charged and released fairly quickly with no issues.
I hired a lawyer and he insisted I would apply for Pre trial intervention and then the charges would go away. I recently found out I was rejected for PTI and havent talked to my lawyer yet and I am freaking out. I am concerned my lawyer isnt doing the best he can to get me out fo these charges because he gets paid more if the case goes to court.
I work in the pharmaceutical industry and am very concerned if i have a conviction on my record that I will completely destroy my career. (I am 28)
Does anyone have advice for me?
Thanks
