Default I-193 Given to a Green Card Holder

My mother in law who has a Green Card was given an I-193 upon entering US for the reason of being 8 days late in returning. She was told by an CBP officer that she has to pay $585.00. Would please help us to understand that how do we pay this fee and who do we have to see in order to pay it. Tnanks

She needs to file with the "Local Office with jurisdiction over the port of entry where the alien is entering".

Thanks for the reply. She entered thru Chicago to catch a connecting flight to NC and she resides in NC. Do we have to go to Chicago and file it in person or this can be done by sending the form thru mail?

This office is located at: 101 West Congress Parkway Chicago, IL 60605. Make sure she uses certified mail w/return receipt.

It turns out that you can go to the local USCIS field office and check with them, and I am glad that we did not mail the form and send the money to Chicago. My wife took her mother to the local field office and they looked at the I-193 given by the Customs officer and told them that there is no need to file the form and pay $585!!
