Restoration of Firearms Rights After a Federal Conviction

My question involves civil rights in the State of: Georgia and North Carolina

1. Can a person have gun rights restored to them if they were convicted of a federal crime?


2. Information: Drug conviction, crime committed in year 1987, person completed jail and parole time, has been out of jail for 20+ years and has never been in trouble since.

This is the second time you asked the same question in the forum, and I'd hate for you to get a rosy picture.

With the exception of certain white collar crimes (which drug conviction is not one of), there is currently NO provision to restore gun rights after a FEDERAL conviction short of a presidential pardon.
While there were some windows of opportunities back in the eighties, they've been slammed shut. While an restoration statute exists, there is no practical process to avail yourself of it.
