Default Leaving Home Before Starting College

My question involves juvenile law in the State of California.
I'm 17 and turn 18 in a month and leave for a UC college in 3 weeks . My parents have NEVER given me any freedom .Theyy have never let me go to the movies or Starbucks or anywhere. Although I got my license they never let me drive nor get a job. And It's not as if i've misbehaved ever because i've never given them any problems of any sort or done anything bad and I got really good grades. I want to make these last 3 weeks here count with Mt friends and want to go hang out to Starbucks or movies and such and was wondering if I can leave without their consent anyway as I tried before and they threatened to call the cops on me.

Until you are 18 they are in charge. If you leave without their permission they can report you as a runaway and the cops can drag you home against your will. Fair or not, that's the law. And, in theory, any adult that aids or encourages you in disobeying your parents can also be charged with a crime.

Also, if your parents are helping you pay for college, think about how your actions might influence their willingness to continue the subsidy.

And if any of your friends are 18 or older, they would be some of the adults that could be charged with a crime.

You'll have all the freedom to go to movies and Starbucks after you're in college. Until you actually reach that milestone 18th birthday, your parents make the rules. There's no, "three weeks away from college" exception that says you can disobey your parents while still living at home. In fact, even after 18, it's still their house, their rules. The difference is that after your 18th birthday, if you don't like the rules, you're free to walk out the door and never come back. (Of course, in that case, your parents are under no obligation to pay a single dime towards your support.) Until that day, though, under 18 = parents are God.

Further, mom n dad can make things complicated if they start refusing to complete the FAFSA based on your behavior.
